Do you understand great design and have a passion for creating user-focused innovative, engaging and accessible digital experiences?
If so, we are looking for a Web Designer to support the design and development of William Reed’s web platforms. Playing a pivotal role in UX and UI design, the Web Designer will collaborate with the Senior Web Designer, Head of Design & UX and the wider digital team to create and design user-centric, responsive and accessible solutions by translating design ideas into intuitive interfaces that optimise user journeys and enhance William Reed’s digital presence.
What you’ll be doing:
User Experience & Research
- Conducting user research and analysing data and user feedback to inform and enhance design decisions
- Creating wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to visualise concepts
- Applying UX best practices for usability and accessibility
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Working closely with product managers, developers, and marketers to align goals
- Presenting designs and gathering feedback to refine concepts
- Balancing business objectives with user-centred design principles
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
- Testing and optimising designs using tools like Lighthouse and PageSpeed Insights
- Troubleshooting and fixing front-end design and code issues
- Maintaining and updating design components & stylesheets for consistency
- Staying updated on industry trends to ensure modern, effective designs
Design & Front-End Development
- Designing responsive, high-quality UI layouts aligned with brand guidelines
- Developing designs using Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools
- Optimising designs for performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility
- Collaborating with developers to ensure smooth design-to-code implementation
- Converting designs into clean, semantic HTML & CSS (SASS/SCSS preferred)
Requirements
What you’ll need:
- Proven track record designing and developing UX-focused websites and digital interfaces, ideally within B2B or digital publishing environments
- Strong understanding of UX principles, accessibility standards, and responsive design
- Understanding of cross-browser compatibility and mobile-first design approaches
- Familiarity with performance optimisation tools (e.g. Lighthouse, PageSpeed Insights) and skilled in design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
- A strong background in graphic design, ideally with a passion for bringing brand guidelines to life
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills with the ability to cultivate strong relationships cross-functionally with developers, marketers, and product managers
- Fantastic organisation and prioritisation skills and attention to detail with self-drive and ability to manage multiple design projects, meet deadlines and work independently
- A creative and imaginative mindset with the ability to innovate
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS (SASS/SCSS) and working knowledge of JavaScript would be beneficial
