Position

We have an exciting opportunity for a PR Account Executive to join our team at 50 Best.

The 50 Best portfolio is a global celebration of great chefs, great bartenders, great restaurants and outstanding bars. Each year, and across every continent, we create, connect, and celebrate the global community through the shared passion of food and drink. We communicate via our events programmes, digital channels, and global communications and marketing campaigns.

Now in its 20th year, the 50 Best Restaurants brand is recognised around the world as the most credible indicator of the best places to eat on Earth. It stimulates fervent debate and sometimes controversy, but the excitement it generates amongst those who aspire to make the list, and the massive interest it brings to the restaurant industry in general, has seen it grow into three eagerly anticipated, internationally influential events. These are The World’s 50 Best, Asia’s 50 Best, Middle East & North Africa 50 Best and Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants.

The 50 Best Bars brand portfolio with its three annual awards ceremonies, The World’s 50 Best, Asia’s 50 Best and North America’s 50 Best Bars is celebrating its 12 year. These events have their own partnership portfolio of brands primarily consisting of premium alcoholic beverage brands from around the world.

50 Best Bars shines a powerful and unique spotlight on the most memorable and exciting bar and cocktail experiences across the world, helping to shape the aspirations of millions of cocktail and bar lovers worldwide.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

External PR Agency Liaison

  • Establish good relations with all contracted PR agencies through regular contact
  • Arrange and attend calls and meetings with contracted PR agencies regularly, as required
  • Ensure overall PR timeline across the brand portfolio is kept updated, coordinating with the PR agencies
  • Assist PR agencies in arranging media interviews with key 50 Best spokespeople, chefs, bartenders and sponsors (when relevant) pre, during and post-awards events and ongoing in general for 50 Best brand
  • Coordinate events media relations (on-site or remotely depending on the event) including event PR agency briefing and coordination, press conference and selection and distribution of assets (with support from your Manager)

Public Relations

  • Assist with writing high quality and grammatically correct press materials, when required
  • Maintain and deliver appropriate media lists for invitation or press release distribution, when an external PR agency is not under contract
  • Manage relationship with PR Newswire (with support from your Manager) and oversee PR agency communication with PR Newswire on ongoing basis
  • Manage process of liaising with Cision and ensuring media monitoring is up to standard
  • Manage organisation of media guestlists for awards, liaising with the Partnerships team and PR agencies to ensure media guestlists for all events are coordinated and the process is streamlined
  • Develop and maintain global press contacts through frequent communication and regular proactive contact with the media
  • Respond directly to media queries received by 50 Best (with support from your Manager), or to delegate to PR agencies accordingly
  • Reach out to journalists directly requesting amends or corrections to articles, when media coverage on 50 Best is factually inaccurate
  • Ensure each brand in the 50 best portfolio receives sufficient time and attention to achieve the required results defined by your manager

Management & Administration

  • Perform Administration, including but not limited to: updating and maintaining the master media database, creating templates and databases, organising PR folders on the server, maintenance of company filing systems, downloading and labelling press materials and ensuring PR agencies have access to information required
  • Manage online Media Centre with Content team and ensure relevant press releases and assets are uploaded in a timely manner
  • To meet team and company deadlines
  • Communicate effectively and transparently with your team
  • Attend weekly team meetings and report on activity
  • Produce minutes and action lists following relevant calls and meetings, when required
  • Assist your Manager in ensuring that all PR agencies preliminary and post-event PR reports are completed to a high standard and include all relevant data

General

  • To maintain an awareness of hospitality industry news in relevant markets
  • Review publications and share relevant articles of interest with wider team
  • Keep abreast of relevant industry events where 50 Best should have a presence

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience working in communication and press relations (agency or in-house)
  • Exposure to international communication including international PR, knowledge of media landscape outside the UK, managing PR events outside the UK
  • Experience in PR event communication with significant attendance
  • Proven track record in developing and delivering consumer-facing brand PR campaigns both at local and international level which deliver results.
  • Experience and understanding of media needs and relationships on an international basis
  • Strong communication and presentation skills – written and verbal
  • Excellent collaborative team-working skills; positive and professional attitude
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and to work at speed around events
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Responsible and accurate with attention to detail
  • The ability to keep information confidential
  • A keen interest in the world of restaurants and bars
  • Excellent knowledge of Cision (or equivalent media monitoring platforms), PowerPoint, and Adobe packages is desirable
  • A willingness to travel
  • Language skills a major advantage, especially Spanish
