British Baker is the leading B2B brand for the baking industry. Our reach spans the whole sector from plant, craft, and in-store bakeries to ingredients and equipment suppliers as well as associated businesses like coffee shops and foodservice outlets. Our website reaches more than 42,000 unique users a month. Core readers include bakers, manufacturers, product developers, CEOs, and business owners. British Baker also has a highly regarded portfolio of events, both online and face-to-face, including the Baking Industry Awards and Britain’s Best Loaf.

British Baker is looking for a deputy editor to join its small but highly efficient editorial team. You’ll come on board at an exciting point in the brand’s evolution as it strides forward with a digital strategy full of opportunities for innovative thinking alongside a growing events portfolio.

In this role you will work closely with the editor to produce a raft of content from news stories to features, interviews, analyses, and multimedia pieces – identifying which format would work best for each piece of content. Alongside the editor, you will then analyse their performance to ensure the audience’s needs are met and identify potential commercial opportunities.

You will also be a key player in developing British Baker’s social media channels to ensure maximum engagement with the baking industry.

The role would suit an ambitious desk editor or reporter looking to take their next steps. It offers ample room for creativity and innovation to deliver valuable information to our audience, and to make your mark on a leading B2B title.

The deputy editor is expected to run British Baker in the editor’s absence meaning excellent project management skills and attention to detail are a must.
